Safety Recommendation 1

The council plans to implement the following safety recommendation:

1) Remove P1 fire exit door key access (via P2 visitors parking stairwell).

It seems currently the weakest point for the entire building.
The consequence of this move is there will be no access to P1 from this door.
No one can use key to enter P1 parking.

I really enjoy not having to take the elevator to get anywhere in the building. However, if that door is truly a security risk, then I will support the decision.

FYI

The door one level below on P2 vistor parking area is a fire exit.

No key/fob can be installed.

Someone said there must be 2 exits in that area.

Is there anyone who can confrim that or know how to get around it?

It would be pretty brutal to remove key access and not provide fob access to P1...being beside the stairs I use them all the time and very rarely take the elevator...I know I'm not the only one...

money issue

No fob access undoubtedly increases elevator use, leading to more cost to repair the elevator. However, I can't do the cost-benefit analysis as I am no expert and don't wish to start an argument since I do not put in the volunteer time that our Council members do. That being said, some of us P1 users might be willing to pay for this fob access. Maybe we can talk about this at an upcoming meeting? Or maybe you can give us a bit more info, like "it's too tricky to wire it; costs a thousand bucks"?
