I'd really like to start to compost, as I'm realizing that most of my garbage is food scraps. I could collect my food scraps in a sealed bucket during the week and then dig a hole on the other side of the pathway that's outside of my window in order to dump those scraps. However, I don't think that would be allowed (dumping food scraps in public dirt). Are there any alternatives? Or is that in fact allowed?

I don't think that would be a good idea as it would create a problem with racoons and rats. I know that the city of Burnaby has started a residential food scraps recycling program but I do not know how it works with condo/apartment buildings. My office has a composting program and I have resorted to taking a container daily to the office with me to work. If you know of anything near by, please post!

I just found this the other day:
http://www.burnaby.ca/City-Services/Garbage---Recycling/Food-Scraps-Recycling-Program/Multi-Family-Food-Scraps-Recycling.html

We could propose to our strata council that we enroll in this program!
